Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy, then add eggs one at a time, beating well.
Beat in orange juice and zest.
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt, then gradually add dry mixture to the creamed mixture.
Drop cookie mixture by teaspoonful onto ungreased baking sheets- they don't spread much, but be sure to leave some room in between.
Bake for 10-14 minutes, until edges just begin to brown. Cool on wire racks.
