Short Dough Crust


6 oz. granulated sugar
7 oz. unsalted butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 lb. bread flour, if available, or all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt


Mix sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla until combined. Add in flour and salt. Mix only until dough is smooth. Roll out in tart form, thin edges. Chill. Line with parchment paper or foil. Fill with beans or pie weights. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes until partially baked.
